Students will be allowed to wear the Heelys shoes, only if, the following requirements are met:
1. The wheels must be removed from the shoe (never to be inserted at school)
2. The vacant space where the wheel is inserted must be covered by a rubber (not plastic) cover
3. Screws must be removed from the shoe(s)
We are asking that our parents assist us with meeting these requirements in an effort to ensure the safety of our students. Your assistance will also eliminate any possible property damage to our school facilities. The teachers will not be asked to inspect the shoes to see if the above mentioned conditions have been met. Please, understand however, that if the conditions are not met and a violation is noticed, the students will be subject to consequences within the student code of conduct.

The first day of school is set for Monday August 25. School will begin at 7:50 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m.

Pre-K and Kindergarten students will be dismissed at 11:00 a.m., August 25-September 5. Their first full day will be September 8.

Refugio Elementary will host its annual Back to School Social on Wednesday, August 28 in the RES cafetorium from 5:00-7:00 p.m. All parents and their Pre-K thru 6th grade students are invited to attend.

The following have been scheduled to take place in the RES cafetorium:
Pre-K meeting at 10:15 on Tuesday, August 26.
Kindergarten meeting at 10:15 on Wednesday, August 27.
Parent meeting for students in grades 1-6 will are tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, September 2 with times TBA.
